Golf doesn’t need to be a slow-paced affair. At
least, that’s what fans of Speedgolf — a sport aimed at playing the quickest
round of golf possible — would argue.
The sport is gaining popularity nationally.
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort hosted the Inaugural Speedgolf World Championships last October,
and supporters have organized a series of Speedgolf events throughout the
country this year. One such event is the Oregon Speedgolf Open, which will be
held at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks on Aug. 3. Participants can sign up
for a speed putting challenge, a speed chipping contest and a
two-hole challenge. The Open also includes a Speedgolf tournament round, a
clinic, an exhibition and a dinner.
The entry deadline is July 26. For more
information, visit Speedgolf International’s official web site.
